Being that we wanted to get back across the street to the motel, we got everything to go - and she didn't bother throwing in forks or napkins. Also, the cuts of meat was better than the cuts of chicken, but only very slightly. It had a good balance of vegetables and meat, but there was no flavor to speak of. The Mongolian beef was bland and flavorless. This was like someone just dumped honey all over the chicken and called it a day. General Tsos is suppose to have a sweet, yes, but a slightly bitter, smokey flavor too, a bite to it. The meat was really crappy chunks of dark meat, full of gristle and nasty bits, there was WAY too much breading on the chicken (disguising their lousy cuts of meat?) and the sauce was too sweet. Oh, speaking of the safeway deli, the General Tso chicken was just one tiny baby step above that, in terms of quality. I've seen it done before, but even the deli at Safeway can usually get it right. The Fried Rice was okay, but then it's really, really, really, really hard to screw up fried rice. I had an order of General Tso's, some Mongolian beef and some house fried rice. So while this might have slightly skewed my barometer for what is decent Chinese grub and what is not, I'm still able to tell when your food sucks. Coming from Seattle, I an drowning in a sea of awesome Chinese and Thai and Japanese food.
